Helene (Kergl) Laurie

Helene (Endres) Laurie, age 92, a resident of Tyngsborough, passed peacefully, early Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late TSgt. William E. Laurie, Jr. USAF Ret. whom she met in Germany after WWII, and shared 37 wonderful years of marriage. 

Born in Starnberg, Germany on July 4, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Lorenz Kergl and Helene (Endres) Zillner and stepdaughter of Christian Zillner.  She grew up and earned her education in Germany and then traveled with her husband and family in the Air Force until his retirement from the military in 1967. The family settled in Westford, MA. prior to moving to Tyngsborough, MA in 1972.

Helene enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and going out to restaurants.  She also enjoyed watching game shows, tending to her indoor and outdoor plants and flowers, and cooking. Her true love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by GenRad Company, of Concord, MA and Westford, MA, where she worked as an assembler for many years.

Surviving her are her five children, John Laurie and his wife Janice of Leeds, ME; Evelyn Mulligan and her husband John of Lowell, MA; Yvonne Laurie of Nashua, NH; Annie Laurie of Dracut, MA; and Jeffrey Laurie of Tyngsborough, MA; eight grandchildren, John Mulligan, Melanie Briggs and her husband Forrest, Christine Mulligan and her husband Jonathan Koenigsamen, Kathleen Simanski and her husband Benjamin, Jacob Laurie and his partner James Tangney, Jessica Welsh-Kordas and her husband Justin, Todd Parsons and his wife Marlo, and Robert Parsons; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Presley, Whitney, William, Jonathan, Margaret, and Erin; her dear sister, Christine Schauer; and nephew, David Schauer, of Austin, TX and nieces/nephews and many dear friends.   

Relatives and friends will be received at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Tuesday, April 25, from 3 until 6 p.m. with a Funeral Home service to take place at 5:30.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Wednesday morning.
