David G. Lally, Sr.

 

David G. “Grampy” Lally, Sr., age 70, a resident of Tyngsborough, passed away on November 11, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Charlene (Conley) Lally with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.

Born in Somerville on January 3, 1952, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary P. (Forristall) Lally, Sr. He was educated in the Somerville school system and was a graduate of Somerville High School.

Dave was an avid sports fan and always attended his grandchildren’s sporting events; especially Madisyn’s high school softball where he became known as “Grampy” to everyone. He enjoyed fishing his entire life but loved teaching his grandchildren the sport even more.  He enjoyed watching superhero movies with his grandchildren Aria and Ashlyn.  He loved his sports conversations with Kam and Dal and his breakfast dates with Mackenzie.  Dave loved his family, traveling,  a good game of cribbage and spending time at the family home in Bethel, Maine,  Lake Q in Searsmont, Maine and the time he spent with his wife, brother Tom and his wife Anne at their lake home in Sunapee NH. 

He was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. 

Surviving him in addition to his loving wife Charlene are a son, David Lally, Jr. of Arlington; two daughters, Kerri Lally and her partner Charles Turner of West Peabody and Amy Lally of Tyngsborough; his grandchildren, Mackenzie and her partner Christopher Shanahan, Madisyn, Aria, Ashlyn, Kamron, Dalvin,  Alexandra, Nicholas, Lauryn and Jakie; great grandchildren, Scarlet Mary and Caedence; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas Lally of Medford, James and Elaine Lally of Lynn; a sister, Donna Lally and her partner Thomas Humphrey of Woburn; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Also survived by and known as an Honorary Father and Grandfather to Stacy Gratton and Family of  Dracut Ma. 

He was also the brother of the late Mary Patricia McGovern, Paul Lally, Eileen Natale, Jeanne Brann, Michael Lally, Geraldine Carnes and Mona Vail. 


Relatives and friends will be received at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m.  A celebration of his life will take place immediately following at 7 p.m.  A private Interment will be held at a later date.
