Carole A. DeFrancesco

Carole A. DeFrancesco, age 80, a resident of Lowell, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022, with her family by her side.  She was the wife of the late Carmine DeFrancesco. 

Born in Lowell on November 26, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Anna (Greene) Hire.  She was educated in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School where she was a member of the baton twirlers.

Carole enjoyed reading, taking trips to the casinos and attending her granddaughters dance competitions, where she was known as “Dance Nana” and she always looked forward to spending time with her family.

Prior to her retirement, she owned and operated the former Oasis Restaurant in Pelham, NH.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra A. and David St. Jean of Pelham; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward J. III and Roberta Doukszewicz of Chelmsford and William R. and Christine Doukszewicz of Dracut; eight grandchildren, David St. Jean Jr. (Dec), Jennifer Clark and her husband Jeffrey, Christopher St. Jean and his wife Kristen, Matthew St. Jean and his wife Erin, Edward J. Doukszewicz IV (Dec), Michael St. Jean, Kailey Doukszewicz and Kelsey Doukszewicz; eight great grandchildren, Ava Clark, Grant Clark, Tyler St. Jean, Stella St. Jean, Vivienne St. Jean, Ethan Clark, Liliana St. Jean and Alex St. Jean; a sister and brother-in-law, Anne and David Collins of Lowell; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Laferriere of Pelham; and many nieces and nephews.  She was also the former spouse of the late Edward J. Doukszewicz Jr. and sister of the late Donna Laferriere.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitations.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. in Ste Marguerite D’Youville Parish, 1340 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut.  Burial will be private in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. Those wishing may make a memorial donation in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
