Florence M. (Soper) Shay

Mrs. Florence M. (Soper) Shay, age 87, a longtime resident of the Cambridge moved to Belvidere section of Lowell 2008, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus.  She was the loving wife of Franklin A. Shay. 

Born in Merrimac, MA on December 14, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Willis A. and Ethel B. (Tucker) Soper.

Florence is a member of the Tewksbury Methodist Church and was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church of Cambridge. At Grace she was

Sunday school teacher, choir member, coordinator of scripture reading and refreshments, record keeper of membership and active at all events. She worked as a clerk for the former Jordan Marsh.

Surviving her in addition to her loving husband Franklin are a daughter and son in law, Eileen Shay and her husband Robert Taylor of Lowell; two sons and a daughter in law, Duane Shay of Wilmington and Gary Shay and his wife Mary Alleca of Wailuku, HI; three sisters and a brother in law, Louise Medeiros of Saugus, Norma Askins of Peabody and Dorothy Chalk and her husband Donald of Naples, FL and many nieces and nephews. 

She was also the sister of the late Willis Soper, Lydia Woodman, Irene Bassett and Alice Woerpel. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, 2335 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.  Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of Flowers please make donation to Tewksbury Church or a charity of your choice.
