Mr. Richard J. Barry, age 75, a longtime resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died on Sunday morning, July 3, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was the beloved husband of Rita H. (Duquette) Barry for 56 years.

Born in Lowell, on June 5, 1941, he was a son of Jeannette (Goulet) Barry of Lowell and the late Emile J. B. Barry.

He was a parishioner of the former St. Louis de France Church and had attended mass at St. Joseph the Worker Shrine and the Chapel at D’Youville Senior Care.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Raytheon Co. as a Quality Control Inspector for over 40 years.

Richard loved shopping, gadgets, working on cars, cooking and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving him in addition to his wife and mother are two sons and a daughter in law, Anthony R. Barry of Lowell and Michael J. and Janine Barry of Dracut; three daughters and two sons in law, LeeAnne Barry of Lowell, Jacqueline M. Caplice and her husband Gary of Lowell and Kimberly A. Scott and her husband David of Dracut; fourteen grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, Emily, Cosette, Mark, Sadie, Abigail, Caleb, Nicholas, Chloe, Nathaniel, Nolan, Ronan and Mia;  a great granddaughter, Gianna; four brothers and four sisters in law, Lawrence and Mary Ann Barry of Lancaster, MA, Arthur and Beverly Barry of Chelmsford, Emile Jr. and Carol Barry of Tyngsborough and Roland and Phyllis Barry of Tewksbury;  three sisters, Claire Barry of Tewksbury, Rita Dempsey of Tewksbury and Mary Jane Barry of Lowell; many nieces and nephews, especially Janice Bryan for all of her support and assistance. 

He was also the brother of the late Therese Duncan.

The Barry family would like to thank Circle Home Hospice for their care and support through this difficult time. 

BARRY – Mr. Richard J. Barry.  Relatives and friends may call at the ROLAND W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME 308 Pawtucket St., Lowell, on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.  A prayer service will take place immediately following at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will be private at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Those wishing may make a memorial contribution to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, Philanthropy Office, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
