Our History …

In the early 1970’s, Roland W. & Joan I. (Monbleau) Martin began negotiations with the Bilodeau family of Lowell to purchase their family owned & operated funeral home on Pawtucket Street.  The large, white building had been in the Bilodeau family for many years and the decision to sell their business was very difficult, however, after a short time, the business was sold to Roland and Joan.

Roland and Joan decided that the funeral home would be named the Bilodeau-Martin Funeral Home to show respect for Mr. Bilodeau and his family.  With much energy and hard work, Roland and Joan started their family business.  It took some time for the business to begin thriving, but with much community involvement and the ambition to succeed they were able to turn it around.

In 1987, Roland and Joan decided to rename the funeral home the Roland W. Martin Funeral Home.  The reason was that they wanted to promote the Martin family, especially with two sons following in their footsteps.

Today we continue to work serving the needs of the community. We are also very proud to announce that we have remained family owned and operated.  Through the years we’ve made many changes to keep up with this fast paced society, yet, we certainly have not lost our personal touch.  In 2006 we celebrated our 30th anniversary with much excitement.  Our expectation is to continue this tradition for many years to come.
